Towards becoming a Clinical Researcher

I have been a student of medicine for about 11 years now and one thing that has fascinated me about this field has been the progress that we have made, there are now newer treatments and diagnostic modalities coming up virtually every month now and the landscape of medicine is changing.

I am currently pursuing super specialization in endocrinology and metabolism and so we deal with a lot of disorders with genetic origin and this proved to be an Achilles heel . This program went a long way in providing a brief glimpse into the future as to how medicine is now moving away from clinics and into labs , how it is imperative for a clinician now to be equally adept and making a clinical diagnosis as well as a genetic one and this program helped me see a path to achieve that.

I would like to take what I learnt at CSIR-IGIB and try to pursue clinical research in endocrine disease especially endocrine tumors as these are known to have strong genetic predisposition and are usually detected late. I sincerely hope that I am able to realize my dream.

I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to IGIB for providing me with the opportunity to attend DIPS2018 and help to hopefully be a researcher in future.
